Open/download the new MONO cast photo: small (72 dpi) or large (300 dpi) The cast of MONO: Megan Armitage - Recently relocated from Chicago where she spent the last year making a few of those independent motion picture talkies such as "Volhynia" where she played Jenny, a wig wearing bi-polar gal married to her father, Lucy in "The Moderns", Jessica in "Trophy" and Crystal in "The Dark Forest". Some theatre credits include "Southern Cross" playing Beth, "Flying Saucers on the Plains" playing Kate and "The Mouse That Roared" playing Princess Glorianna. She went to The Theatre School at DePaul University where she ate a lot of bagels with jam. She couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of Mono, and to be working with such a wonderfully talented ensemble. Ian Crawford - Ian is a California Bay Area native currently working on his B.A. Acting degree at Fordham University at the Lincoln Center campus. He joined the cast of MONO is October of 2003. His theatre interests run the gamut from acting to directing to design to electrics. Some favorite roles include Gollum in The Hobbit, Robel in Spring Awakening and the Servant in Electra. He is amazingly pleased to be working with such a talented, close-knit family of people. Juliette Gash - A native of Dublin, she is thrilled to join the cast of MONO! After One and a half years at the Lee Strasberg Institute, she appeared in "Blue Surge" at the Producers Club. She then co-produced and starred in "North of Providence" at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan. She would like to thank the cast and Steven for welcoming her so readily into the fold, along with her family and friends at home who continue to support her unfailingly. Dai Ishiguro - Dai Ishiguro was born in Japan and came to N.Y. 3 years ago. He studied at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute for 2 years. His latest appearance was in "Fairy Tale" in Fringe Festival this summer. Lawrence Jansen - Originally from Philly, he graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse in 2000, and went straight into two back-to-back national tours. Upon returning to NYC, he was cast in Mono, and has successfully played the majority of the men's roles. He has just completed 3 independent films and is working on a new play. In 2004 he can be seen in Leaving New Hope, How Smoking Saved My Life, Bottom of the Barrel, and a new play by Steven Tanenbaum, Mambo Quasimodo (every Saturday at 10pm after MONO) and in a national Verizon commercial. Irene Longshore - Irene got her start in theatre appearing in numerous productions including lead roles in A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Children's Hour, The Dining Room, Bloody Poetry, and Lillian Hellman, Age 13. She had a starring role in the independent film "The Other America" which was shown as the opening night film at the 2004 Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and will be shown at other festivals including the San Francisco International Film Festival in April 2004. Other films include a lead in the independent film In Between, which was shown at the Philadelphia Festival of the World Cinema, as well as featured roles in the film Girl, Interrupted and on the TV Show Boston Public. She was also a member of the Without a Net Improv Troupe in Philadelphia. She is currently completing her B.F.A degree in acting. Tricia McAlpin - Tricia is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College where she appeared in Moonchildren, The Vagina Monologues and, most importantly, where she met Steven Tanenbaum. Recently, she appeared in Clubbed Thumb’s production of Design Your Kitchen, a play by Kate Ryan. Tricia is so proud to be a part of ANOTHER URBAN RIFF and work with such beautiful people every week. Pete Mele - Recent graduate from Fordham University has been seen around town either in front of or behind the curtain. Nick Paglino - Nick recently graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and received his BFA in Drama. He is thrilled to be amongst such a talented cast and hopes to use MONO as a springboard into "Naked Boys Singing." Megan Papier - She feels extremely blessed and proud to be a part of the MONO cast. A recent graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts, Megan currently calls NYC her new home. Some favorite regional credits include 'Kate' in Nicholas Nickelby, 'Olivia' in Twelfth Night and a guest spot on this season's "Law and Order". She would like to thank her family and friends for their constant love and support. Nysheva-Starr - An alum of Syracuse University, Nysheva-Starr has studied performance in Ireland and England. She is the recipient of a Princess Grace Scholarship in Theater and she is part of an ensemble cast that won 5 Audelcos for a production of Damn Yankees done in 2000. She has also recently worked with Urban Stages and their Off-Broadway production of Ah, My Dear Anderson. "The great thing about being an artist is that we are responsible for reforming societies. Hopefully within the New York culture, MONO will remind us that we are all dealing with issues and sometimes we need to be still and try to listen to each other. We will then realize that we are actually troubleshooting our own lives as well. Enjoy!" Kerri Tucker - Originally from Trinidad, Kerri Tucker feels privileged to be a part of such an inspired and hard working group of artists. She graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC, and joined the cast of Mono in April 2001. In between she has appeared in several independent features, as well as the CBS soap, Guiding Light. She was seen at the Lion Theater in Yearning for the 4th Grade in Nov. 2002, and is currently working on the independent feature, Opposite Attraction. She is also Assistant Director at Another Urban Riff.
Hadar Lev-Tov - A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Hadar is very happy to be a part of this talented group. Hadar would like to thank the whole gang for making every weekend worth the week preceding, and Sarah for keeping business as usual. Philip Lowendick - Philip is extremely excited to be joining the very talented cast of MONO. He is a May 2003 graduate of the Americal Musical and Dramatic Academy here in NYC. Some of his most recent credits inclued: One Life to Live, All My Children, Guiding Light, a History Channel original movie, Combat Jump. A couple of educational videos for Human Relations Media, national commercial for Claritin Reditabs and few for Verizon Wireless. He thanks his family and friends for their love and support, the cast for being so warm and open to the 'new guy' and to Steven and Kerri for this awesome opportunity! Maya Macdonald - Maya Macdonald is the loud and proud little sister of the MONO family. This is Mayas third project with Steven Tanenbaum, after acting in BLINK which was in the 99 Fringe Festival, and co-writing and acting in GYM with Locomotion Dance Theatre. Maya is also an active playwright and dancer. Past works include When Purple isnt Enough and Through the Bars of a Rhyme which were produced by Starfish Theater Works at the Blue Heron Arts Center, this past summer MUTT was produced by MCC Theater 2002, and has been a choreographer and dancer at Dance Theater Workshop since 1989 and at Joyce SoHo and Jacobs Pillow in 2001. David Solomon - Since graduating from Vassar College in 1999, David has worked in New York as an actor, director and playwright. He has worked for the Roundabout Theatre Company and is currently a production assistant on the Broadway premiere of Assassins. As an actor he has appeared in a number of productions, including Raft of Medusa at the Wings Theatre and as Woof in Hair at the Red Room/KGB. He also performed at Expanded Arts, Don't Tell Mama, The Forestburgh Playhouse and at the Shubert Theatre. Studied voice with Karen Holvik and Ron Shetler, is an Associate Artist for Studio 42 (studio-42.org)and is now working on his 2nd play, Lemmings. He is ridiculously happy to be part of the MONO family! Michael Whitney - Michael is pleased and proud to be an understudy for MONO. He has been on the off-off Broadway and student/indie film circuit for over five years and is excited about other new theatre projects and a pilot to be shot in October 2003. Mr. Whitney has been nominated for a "Best Featured Actor" award for his work in "Golem Stories" as part of the Spotlight on 2002/2003 season.
