This Valentine's Day, everyone catches MONO!

"……a potent statement about the lonely singlehood of many New Yorkers…. a good, old-fashioned brew of theatrical magic….a triumph" -NYTheatre.com

Written & Directed by STEVEN TANENBAUM and featuring a rotating cast of International Actors, MONO is an interactive play, currently in its 3rd year, that continues to intrigue and captivate audiences at SURF REALITY every THURSDAY, FRIDAY & SATURDAY at 8PM. Surf Reality is located at 172 Allen Street, between Stanton and Rivington Streets / F Train to 2nd Ave. Reservations & Information: 212-358-3447. Tickets: $15 ($10, Students & Groups of 5 or more).

They say love is a contagious disease, but not at MONO this Valentine's Day. Lust and lactic acid infect this bar tonight. Singles and couples alike are invited to indulge in their voyeuristic side, and eavesdrop on the assembly of some of the most incompatible characters this side of Cupid's arrow. Hallmark doesn't make a Valentine's card for these lonely hearts.

In a dark corner, the NERD IN LEATHER PANTS is humping the leg of his girlfriend, the SADO-NANNY. At the other end of the bar, an URBANOLOGIST cotton-swabs you for samples; as TWO CHICKS carry on a very public mating dance while; at a candlelit table, an abandoned MUTE stares lovingly into the seductive button-eyes of a TWO-TIMING FRENCH SOCK PUPPET as her sister, the REHAB DROPOUT, buys another drink with a stolen credit card.

Innovative, unorthodox and literally engaging, MONO uses all 360 degrees of Surf Reality, transforming it into a typical L.E.S. hangout where the action takes place in front of, behind, beside and sometimes on top of the audience---who act as "patrons" in a bar where the management invites you to turn your cell phones on, open a tab and tap into the rhythm of a nightly ritual.

This Valentine's Day, be surrounded by cupid's castoffs, downtown desperados who might even make your relationship look healthy. Forget the chocolates and the flowers; everyone that catches MONO gets a special Valentine's gift; soundtrack giveaways, free love punch, and some true lust from your very own TWO-TIMIMG FRENCH SOCK PUPPET. Nobody leaves this bar alone on Valentine's Day!

Every week, anywhere from 1 to 5 of MONO's versatile cast rotates into new roles, bringing a freshness and vitality to the play that has made MONO a genuine cult hit. MONO's rotating cast of INTERNATIONAL ACTORS are from Israel, Trinidad, Romania, Turkey, France and Japan. The current ensemble features original member Tricia McAlpin---with Kena Cuesta, Sera Demira, Yasu Ikeda, Lawrence Jansen, Nick Paglino, Kerri Tucker, and Donan Whelan. VALENTINE'S DAY MARKS THE START OF A DISTINCTLY SPECIAL ROTATION!
